One of the more recent piece of penguin literature in my collection.

Luontokuva (Finnish, translates to "nature photograph") is a long-running specialist magazine dedicated to Finnish nature photographers. Released six times a year, its an interesting blend of both nature and photography, offering plenty of insights to both. And of course, it always carries stunning photos of nature from all over the world.

This particular issue (issue 4 of 2025) headlines a meaty article on Risto Raunio and his penguin photography. To summarise the start of this journey, he fell in love with these sympathetic birds – like we all do – and not soon after he realised he had photographed more than half of them in their natural habitats. So he went on journey to cover every single species, all 19 of them.

In addition to his journey and amazing photos, the article also covers penguins, their habitats and their sadly shaky future in the warming world.
