Weekly Penguin

Weekly Penguin 496

Time for more super-adorable books for children – and us penguin lovers. This time it's my pleasure to introduce you to a whole range of books, namely the Penguin series by author/illustrator Salina Yoon. My first one of these was Penguin and Pinecone: A Friendship Story, published in 2012 by Bloomsbury Publishing.

As the name suggests, it is a story about the unlikely friendship between a penguin and a pinecone. Obviously, pinecones don't belong in the Antarctic, so Penguin has to return Pinecone to his own home. This isn't the end of their friendship, but it endures despite the distance and time – growing like a pine tree.

As I mentioned, there is a full range of these Penguin books by Salina Yoon. Whilst I don't posses all of them, it's something I intend to fix in the not-too-distant future. Apparently there's even a plush toy version of this character, though I've yet to locate a retailer that would ship one to Finland. Emphasis on 'yet'.
