More wallpapers – and this one may cause a cute overload.
In case you haven't noticed by now, I have a thing for green penguins, mainly because of the Funky Penguin. The sad part is that I haven't been able to track down the manufacturer of it – he no longer has his wash / brand tags. Still, every year I try, and though I haven't found the origins of our Funky Penguin, I have found other green waddlers.
And the case in point; Sumikkogurashi penguin from San-X! Or more appropriately, "Penguin?", as this poor fellow has an identity crisis, not being sure if he is a penguin or not. See, he used to wear a plate on his head, thinking that he might be a Kappa (a Japanese folklore creature), but now he is not so sure. And I can totally see how being a green penguin might lead into an existential crisis outside of TAGAP.
If you're not into Japanese Kawaii stuff, you likely just asked 'what penguin from who'? Well, first off, San-X is a famed Japanese company known for their super-cute characters that can be found in everything from pencils and letter paper to figurines and plush toys. Each character is not only cutesy in design, but also has character traits attached to them, giving them extra personality.
Sumikkogurashi is one of their character series, roughly translating to "Things in the Corner". Like, there is a polar bear coming from a far corner of the Earth, a shy cat who likes to stay in the corner and so-on.
You know, I have a feeling this isn't the last you've seen of this fellow.
