When it comes to music I'm almost omnivorous, but above all else I dig soundtracks and narrative concept albums – or rock operas, or progressive musicals, or whatever you wish to call them. So it is no surprise that less than a minute after I found out about British progressive-funk-metal group Sack Trick's cosmic rock-musical Penguins on the Moon I ordered the album. Ah, the wonders of Internet!
Penguins on the Moon is a straight-on progressive rock musical that tells about the adventure of four penguins; Captain, his side-kick Alfredo and two rascally penguin twins Bob and Burt. They decide that life on Antarctica sucks and the only way to go is the Moon. So they build a space-ship and shoot for the stars. I don't want to spoil the entire adventure as its so bizarre it has to be experienced, but it does involve fishy situations, cheesy jokes, tripping aliens and a love-story between a penguin and NASA's microwave oven. Naturally, the penguins return home in the end – the world couldn't cope without penguins, after all!
And just to be clear; The album isn't just random collection of songs with penguin themes, but a narrative story. This is embodied in the album booklet, which features the album lyrics in form of a comic book, one that would work as a stand-alone release without the music. Granted, there are heck-of-a-lot more rhymes than in your typical comic book, but it proves there is a story. A very trippy story. Here's a snapshot – I hope you guys at Sack Trick don't mind me putting this up, it's all in name of promotion!

And finally I leave you with fan-made YouTube video of the title song "Penguins on the Moon". The video has nothing to do with the album, but at least this way you can witness the epic-ness yourself;
